Designed as a cozy retreat for couples or solo travellers looking for some quiet, Harakeke Hut offers an off-grid experience with all the comforts you need. Secluded and tranquil, it’s far from the hustle and bustle, yet close enough to explore the best of the Coromandel Peninsula.
Our eco-friendly hut offers:
A queen-sized bed with views of the ocean from the comfort of your pillows.
A separate covered kitchen equipped with everything you need to prepare delicious meals.
An al fresco shower overlooking the bush and ocean beyond.
Two short bush tracks through the property, including a peaceful grove of giant tree ferns (punga).
A pétanque court for a lazy afternoon close to home.
On rainy days, enjoy a curated selection of books, puzzles, and board games. Or simply relax on your private deck, soaking up the beauty of this wild and untouched paradise.
This much-loved little hut is named after the renowned flax plant, Harakeke, which grew plentifully along the coast hundreds of years ago and is now back growing in great profusion after a planting programme by iwi.
Rates & Booking
Harakeke Hut is available for NZD 150–220 per night (for two people) depending on the season.
A two-night minimum stay applies during high season, with a surcharge for single-night bookings. Book directly with us for a discounted rate.

We’ll welcome you with complimentary seasonal fresh fruit, teas, freshly ground coffee, and some of our locally-produced Manuka honey—renowned for its healing properties as well as its delicious taste!
What to Bring
Harakeke Hut is self-catering, so bring your favorite food and drinks to enjoy. The hut is equipped with a single-ring gas cooker, BBQ, pots, pans, cutlery, and crockery. The nearest store is in Colville, a 30-minute drive, with more supplies available in Coromandel Township.
